The Department of Yoga Sciences is a newly established University Teaching Department in Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, one of the pioneer institute offering programme in Yoga Science. However, the Yoga courses were already running under the Department of Physiotherapy since 2018. PG Diploma in Yoga Science and Therapy was started in the year 2018 providing an excellent curriculum to the students. As the need and future prospects in the field of Yoga, M.Sc. Yoga Science and Therapy programme was started in the year 2019. The department has introduced Integrated B.Sc. (Hons. /Hons. With Research)- M.Sc. Yoga Science and Therapy programme as per NEP 2020.
The department is dedicated to fostering a deep understanding of Yoga—not just as a physical practice, but as a transformative journey for the mind, body, and spirit. We offer a diverse range of programs designed to meet the needs of students at all levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Our faculty comprises experienced educators and practitioners who are passionate about sharing their knowledge and expertise.
Yoga is an ancient culture and Indian heritage, when adopted as a way of life is claimed to bestow the practitioner with ideal physical, mental, intellectual and spiritual health. It has potential for both prevention of diseases and promotion of health. The holistic approach of yoga brings harmony in all walks of life and also influences our day-to-day living. It brings suitable changes in the behavioural pattern and attitude thereby helps to improve the inter-personal relationship at home and also in the society. Therapeutic benefits of yoga have also been revealed by many scientific researches carried out across the globe. Today, Yoga has become popular because of its strengths in prevention and management of many lifestyle related disorders including physiological and psychosomatic disorders
