Welcome to Department of Applied Psychology
Since last few decades Psychology has emerged as one of the most important and leading discipline and is expanding its horizon rapidly. Increasing need of mental health management and stressful life challenges has made it necessary for survival. Diversified challenges and opportunities in the emerging world have caused a new shift in the field of Psychology which is full of promises and ample possibilities for exploration and innovation to better understand the mind-body, society-culture, interpersonal and intrapersonal transactions with the help of scientific methodology and training. The department of Applied Psychology, GJUS&T, Hisar was established in year - 1996 and is currently running 5 regular programmes- B.Sc Psychology (Honors), Integrated B.Sc (Hons/Hons with Research)-M.Sc. Psychology, M.Sc in Psychology, PGDGC (Post Graduate Diploma in Guidance and Counselling) and Ph.D in Psychology. B.Sc Psychology (Honors) is a 3-year programme started since session 2018-19. Integrated B.Sc-M.Sc. Psychology is an Integrated programme started from academic session 2024-25 clubbing the UG and PG level courses as per the implementation of New Education Policy (NEP-2020). The M.Sc Psychology is a 2 year Master’s degree programme of professional nature oriented towards opening the new vistas of career in diverse fields. The Department started P.G. Diploma in Guidance & Counselling from the session 2017-18. All the programmes include a mandatory curriculum of internship period for the completion of degree programmes which also enhances the employability of the students in allied fields. The objective of the course is to provide professionally competent counsellors who can be helpful in resolving the various psychological and behavioral problems with the help of counselling techniques among different sections of society.
